2011 Doncaster Mile Odds – More Joyous Opens as Favourite

More Joyous

More Joyous is the early favourite for the 2011 Doncaster Mile

Gai Waterhouse’s glamour mare More Joyous has opened as the favourite in the 2011 Doncaster Mile odds with early markets now available on the $2 million feature set to run at Royal Randwick on April 16.

Premier online bookmaker Luxbet released their futures betting for the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) this week, with More Joyous the current $7.50 favourite.

More Than Ready four-year-old More Joyous finished fifth to superstar So You Think in the Cox Plate at her last race start on October 23, before which she scored back-to-back Group 1 wins in the George Main Stakes (1600m) at Randwick and the Toorak Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield.

The Doncaster Mile second-elect in the futures Luxbet markets is weight-for-age champion Whobegotyou paying $10.

Prepared by Mark Kavanagh, Street Cry five-year-old and dual Group 1 winner Whobegotyou enjoyed a good spring campaign that included a win in the Group 2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes and a last start third in the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley.

Other top fancies to win the 2011 Doncaster Mile include Peter Moody’s unbeaten sprinter Black Caviar, defending Doncaster Mile champion Rangirangdoo and another star from Moody’s stables reigning Horse of the Year Typhoon Tracy, all sitting at a quote of $13 through Luxbet.

Punters can get very generous odds on many other Doncaster Mile nominees including Epsom Handicap winner Captain Sonador, Gai Waterhouse’s The Metropolitan champ Herculian Prince and last year’s Blue Diamond Stakes winner Star Witness paying $26 each; Caulfield Guineas victor Anacheeva at $31; improving Not A Single Doubt gelding Doubtful Jack and Masquerader paying $34 at Luxbet; and last year’s third placegetter Brilliant Light sitting at a very juicy $51!
