Canterbury Race Tips – Friday January 28, 2011

Tonight the best racing action in New South Wales will be at Canterbury Racecourse where the Sydney Turf Club is hosting a cracker seven-race programme and here the Races.com.au team have listed the top Canterbury Race Tips for Friday January 28.

The first race on the Canterbury card tonight is the $27,000 TheRaces.Com.Au Plate (1250m) kicking things off at 7:00pm (AEDST) and where we are tipping #8 Racing Red to break their maiden status.

The night’s later handicap events provide some really good betting opportunities including Race 5 the $27,000 Canterbury Park Handicap (1550m) at 9:00pm (AEDST) and the closing event, Race 7 the $27,000 Summer Hill Handicap (1900m) at 10:00pm (AEDST).

With the Autumn Racing Carnival Group 1 features kicking off in just a couple of weeks, now is the perfect time to have a few punts and build up that betting bank for the big showdowns!

Check out our exclusive Canterbury race tips below with the top three horses we rate in each field tonight and then head over to leading online bookmaker Luxbet to take advantage.

Canterbury Race 1 Tips – TheRaces.Com.Au Plate (1250m)

  • #8 Racing Red from #7 Merry Anniversary and #9 Relinquish – Bet now at Luxbet

Racing Red coming off a close third last start at the track, nicely weighted dropping back a kilo here and has a good mid-field draw.

Canterbury Race 2 Tips – Slipper On Sale Handicap (1100m)

  • #6 Pass The Parcel from #3 Kaulana and #1 Zaratone – Bet now at Luxbet

Last start winner Pass The Parcel looks good for this, the well-bred More Than Ready mare dropping back four kilos from the 58kg they carried to victory on January 13.

Canterbury Race 3 Tips – Ashfield Handicap (1550m)

  • #3 Curata Time from #4 Holy Thread and #2 Landamman – Bet now at Luxbet

Nice odds on Curata Time for this, have shown good potential at the track before and can handle the weight.

Canterbury Race 4 Tips – Gold Room Handicap (1900m)

  • #5 The Warrior Woman from #4 Dandee Topwin and #3 Trauma – Bet now at Luxbet

The Warrior Woman has a wide draw but plenty of space to make it up, won at Rosehill last start and the distance is ideal for Chris Waller’s Redoute’s Choice mare.

Canterbury Race 5 Tips – Canterbury Park Handicap (1550m)

  • #2 Tom’s Choice from #1 Our Freedom and #11 Pouter – Bet now at Luxbet

Tom’s Choice doesn’t have the best form on paper but that’s what makes them great value for an upset here. Good training, good breeding and has shown they want more distance which they get here against easier company than their last start at Rosehill.

Canterbury Race 6 Tips – STC Members Handicap (1200m)

  • #3 Lotseventy from #1 Universal Boy and #5 Jealous Guy – Bet now at Luxbet

Lotseventy has ideal barrier three draw, this Choisir gelding likes a bit of weight on their back too so 58kg should suit and see them return to form that saw them win at Gosford with 59kg back in December.

Canterbury Race 7 Tips – Summer Hill Handicap (1900m)

  • #4 Moderna from #5 Brazen Babe and #2 Shawnee Girl – Bet now at Luxbet

Moderna has had mixed form of late, most recently finishing second at Warwick Farm where she should have won but got blocked in. Should get a better chance here.
