Varenna Miss wins Race 7 at Caulfield

Varenna Miss has won Race 7, the $70,000 City of Glen Eira Handicap for mares over 1100m, on Australia Day at Caulfield.

The Tony Noonan trained Varenna Miss was the hot favourite with punters for the second last race of the day at Caulfield, paying just $1.75. Jumping from barrier 2, Varenna Miss had a good run with jockey Steven King and managed to hold off a strong challenge from Perfect Hostess. Varenna Miss’ stablemate Be Positive claimed third.

There was some drama at the start when Delyara was withdrawn from the race at the barriers after there were issues loading her into the stall, bringing th field down to just six runners.

4-year-old mare Varenna Miss has now won 3 of her 4 career starts.
