Boys On Tour to Miss 2011 Blue Diamond Preview
Patinack Farm’s potential turf star Boys On Tour will be scratched from tomorrow’s $100,000 Listed Blue Diamond Preview C&G field at Caulfield, the two-year-old instead being saved for Saturday.
One of the early favourites in the Luxbet Blue Diamond Preview odds, connections including trainer John Thompson have decided to miss the Australia Day race at Caulfield on Wednesday after Boys On Tour drew wide with barrier 10.
A good first-up career start is important for Boys On Tour, and as a juvenile barrier 10 is a horror draw to contend from.
The promising General Nediym gelding will instead make their race debut this Saturday January 29th at Betfair Park Sandown Hillside in the Super Vobis Tow-Years-Old Plate (1000m).
Boys On Tour, who got tongues wagging trackside back in September winning their first barrier trial by an emphatic five and a half lengths, was a $6.50 chance in the Blue Diamond Preview odds at Luxbet.
Golden Archer remains the clear favourite to win the 2011 Blue Diamond Colts & Geldings Preview, Peter Moody’s unbeaten youngster sitting at a short quote of $2.25 at Luxbet.
Thompson still has his filly Motifs lining up at Caulfield tomorrow, the grey daughter of Fusaichi Pegasus out to maintain her unbeaten record in the Blue Diamond Preview for Fillies, currently at a generous price of $26 through Luxbet.
Motifs two career wins were both in Adelaide and she too has suffered a blow with a wide barrier 12 draw for her Melbourne debut.
A better chance for Thompson to see Australia Day glory tomorrow is his Caulfield Guineas runner-up Run For Levi, resuming racing in the $100,000 Listed Zeditave Stakes (1200m).
First-up for the season after running a game second behind Anacheeva in the Caulfield Guineas on October 9, Run For Levi is at $19 to win the Zeditave.
Robert Smerdon’s super consistent Eclair Mystic is the favourite at $2.90, while Anacheeva, also resuming, is at a generous $6.50 through Luxbet.
