Blue Diamond Preview Colts & Geldings 2011 Odds

A wide open field of promising two-year-olds are set to start their autumn campaigns at Caulfield Racecourse this Wednesday January 26 in the $100,000 Listed Blue Diamond Preview C&G (1000m) and the odds for the feature are now out.

Punters can get in early before tomorrow’s race and get longer odds right now at Luxbet on the top colts and geldings running in the 2011 Blue Diamond Preview.

The first official preparatory run for juveniles heading towards the $1 million Blue Diamond Stakes on February 26, the Blue Diamond Preview for Colts & Geldings features an excellent 10-horse field.

However, Boys On Tour is set to be scratched from Wednesday’s Blue Diamond Preview.

Clear favourite in the market is Golden Archer, the Peter Moody-trained colt paying $2.25 through Luxbet to maintain his unbeaten record tomorrow.

Drawn in barrier seven and due to be ridden by Luke Nolen, Rock Of Gibraltar two-year-old Golden Archer won on debut at Flemington on December 11 from a wide barrier 13 draw and then made it two from two on Boxing Day with another two and a half length victory at Caulfield.

Second elect in the Blue Diamond Preview odds is Bossdon City, Brett Cavanough’s Beautiful Crown gelding having been heavily backed in from their opening quote of $6 into $5 at Luxbet.

Making their Melbourne debut tomorrow, Bossdon City enjoyed their first win at Rosehill on January 15 claiming an upset win over Godspeed and will bring good competition to the Preview.

Three other horses are at single-figure odds through Luxbet to win the Blue Diamond Preview with Boys On Tour and Envious paying $6.50, and Sepoy at $7.50.

There has been plenty of pre-race hype surround John Thompson’s Boys On Tour, the General Nediym gelding tipped to become the next big racing sensation for owners Patinack Farm.

However, Boys On Tour is unlikely to line up on Wednesday, connections choosing to save him for Saturday after a poor barrier 10 draw.

That leaves Envious and Sepoy as the best upset chances.

Envious has a nice barrier four draw, the Hussonet colt locally trained by Clinton McDonald having their first career jump in the Preview.

The Peter Snowden-trained Sepoy also has a nice draw for the Preview, set to jump from gate two with Mark Zahra in the mount, the Elusive Quality colt looking to bring their career record up to two wins from as many starts after winning the Listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes (100m) at Flemington in their race debut last October.

The 2011 Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Preview (C&G) is set to jump at 2:12pm (AEDST) as Caulfield Race 3 tomorrow.
