2011 Magic Millions Fields – Playtime & American Crew Vet Checks

With Queensland’s most lucrative race meeting set to take place at the Gold Coast tomorrow, the 2011 BMW Magic Millions Race Day, the runners engaged to face off in the day’s feature showdowns have today undergone veterinary examinations.

Racing Queensland’s veterinary surgeon Dr Martin Lenz concluded his veterinary checks on the hopeful juveniles making up the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic and $1 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas fields with two horses scheduled to have a final examination tomorrow morning before being cleared to compete.

Playtime and American Crew are the two runners to be rechecked before scratching time tomorrow morning after Lenz reported issues after their examinations today.

The Todd Austin-trained Foreplay filly Playtime, accepted for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, exhibited soreness in a section of her upper shin of the near foreleg, with x-rays of the area ordered to be taken this afternoon.

Playtime is currently a $61 chance in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic odds at Luxbet, having drifted out from her opening quote of $34.

If Playtime does not pass her final check tomorrow morning, her subsequent scratching would pave the way for first or second emergencies Noisy Ocean or Ingham Magic to gain a start.

Sydney-trained American Crew is the other horse that will undergo another examination tomorrow, the Chris Waller-trained Stratum gelding engaged for the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas.

Currently sitting at a quote of $9 in the Luxbet Classic markets, American Crew was found to be displaying lameness in the off foreleg and trainer Waller has agreed to another assessment of the issue in the morning.
