2011 Magic Millions Sprint Field, Barriers & Betting

This Saturday, January 15, a bumper nine-race programme will take place at the Gold Coast Racecourse when the 2011 Magic Millions Race Day takes centre stage.

One of the major attractions of the day will be the $176,000 Magic Millions Sprint (1000m), which has drawn a final field of 12 quality runners plus two emergencies.

In the early Magic Millions Sprint odds open at the online bookmakers such as Luxbet, Tony Gollan’s Toowoomba galloper Temple Of Boom is the clear favourite paying around $2.50 to win.

Drawn wider in barrier 11, four-year-old Temple Of Boom has been in eye-catching form this season enjoying wins in events including the Listed Swisse Vitamins Stakes (1100m) back on November 4 and most recently ran a close third, beaten by less than half a length, in an 1100m Handicap at Doomben on December 18.

Other 2011 Magic Millions Sprint hopefuls at single figure odds include Paprika (barrier eight), Geared Up (barrier one), Atomic Force (barrier three) and second emergency Not A Snip A Doubt (barrier 14).

Of the top fancies Liam Birchley’s quality General Nediym mare Paprika coming off a win over 900m at the Gold Coast Track on January 1 looks the best chance of causing an upset.

The 2011 Myer Magic Millions Sprint is scheduled as Race 4 at the Gold Coast on Saturday, due to jump at 2:40pm (AEDST).

Later on the three major features will take place with the Magic Millions Cup (1400m), Magic Millions 3YO Guineas and the Magic Millions 2YO Classic presenting punters with some of the hottest summer betting markets.
