Moonee Valley Race Club have again staged a great initiative and are seeing in the new year with a good meeting tonight. A good even program has thrown up some good races and tips and the races.com.au team have previewed each race . Luxbet have had an early market up on this meeting or sometime and there have already been some interesting market movers which is always a good guide to horses that will perform well. The Track condition is as expected and the track has been prepared to race as a Dead 4.

Race 1 is over the Cox Plate distance of 2040 Meters and sees  Annlea get the nod at current odds of $3.30 , there was slight backing for this filly at the $3.30 and saw her move into $3.20 before easing again to $3.30 , she has won over the mile well and at a night meeting here , looks hard to beat. For second we put in favorite the strangely named Hurdy Gurdy Man and is currently $2.80 in betting, for third we put in roughie at $18 Paparazzi Princess. We dont like Take the Moment and believe it is well under the odds at $3.50.

Race 2 and the Paddy Payne trained Michelle Payne ridden Chaparro looks to have plenty on these and any price over $2 should be taken , currently paying over $7 with Luxbet on their best tote option. Won easily over the same course by 4 lengths last start and by boom sire High Chaparrel looks unbeatable.  Just back it , there are no dangers Super Scud will probably run second and anything can run third.

Race 3 is another 2040 Meter race and we have the Adelaide trained Nostoppinthemusic on top , its a good time of the year to make the trip east , blew them away here over the mile 2 starts ago by 5 lengths before running second in a much better race at Flemington , is well drawn here and should be around the $6 mark. For second we like Olympic Win who will be decent odds and likely favorite for third Sweet Talking Man.

Race 4 is over the very short course of 955 Meters and there is no doubt going to be alot of speed on , Netra has been racing in much better company than this and from the draw should get a good run , and has already been well supported from $5 into $4.5 and favorite but still good value at that. Tango Express ran a good race at Flemington last start and Hooness is a dual acceptor so you would expect she is ready to win and is capable on her day and at $13 is good value. We are going to pot Alittlevolcanic who cant do any work in her races but will have to here and La Bella Roo who has been racing well but will need to be well ridden from the draw.

Race 5 Rock Me Sweet is favorite and opened at $3 and got crunched into $2.60 then eased to $3.2 before the money came for Koonoomoo backed from $4 into $3.70 and we put this filly on top , will appreciate getting out to the 1200 today and was held up last time and has been racing in better class races. For second we put in Rock Me Sweet and Anguissola trained by Lee Freedman for third.

Race 6 is a competitive event over the 1000 meters with some top hopes drawn wide. Big Spirit has drawn wide but has brilliant speed and won well in good time over this course at night last start , is currently $5.5 with Luxbet and looks a great eachway bet to nothing. Favorite Broken has been well supported at $2.5 and looks hard to beat on paper and for third we put in Waltzes which is racing in great heart and is good value at $7.5.

Race 7 and we are going out on a limb here and tipping Down Under Boy at $21 but if you bet with Luxbet take the best of the best product and get best of top fluc or top tote , it should start longer than that price. Gets his chance today , these horses are going nowhere , neither is he but on his best form would win easily. For second we like the favorite Kaleske and Cabeza for third.

Race 8 and the last Thoroughbred race in Australia for 2010 and we hope it was a good punting year for you in a tough race to finish we are going to recommend a boxed trifecta with some decent value 16 , 8 , 10 , 9 and 7 for 25 cent investment will cost $15.
