2011 Perth Cup Barrier Draw

The barrier draw for the 2011 Perth Cup has been announced and early favourite Ranger has drawn wide in barrier 12 in the capacity 16 horse, plus one emergency, field. Western Jewel has drawn well in barrier 3 and C.B Cox Stakes winner Colour Correct has drawn barrier 6.

Emergency runner Kawatiri drew barrier 1, so if there are no scratchings before the running on New Year’s Day the field will move in one place and God Has Spoken will jump against the rails.

Despite the wide barrier draw Ranger is still the favourite, currently at $4.00 to win at Luxbet. The current second favourite is Western Jewel in barrier 3 at $5.50 and Colour Correct in barrier 6 is now at $7.00 followed by Tranquility in barrier 7 at $7.50.

The Group 2 Perth cup, run over 2400m with total prize money of $400,000, is scheduled as race 8 on New Year’s Day at Ascot Racecourse and will jump at 4:30pm local time (19:30 AEDST).
