2010 W.A. St. Leger Odds & Betting Tips
Tomorrow, Saturday December 11, Ascot Racecourse is set to host a cracker eight-race programme for the 2010 A.J. Scahill Stakes Day with three black-type races highlighting the card including the $100,000 Listed W.A. St. Leger (2100m).
Betting markets on the 2010 W.A. St. Leger are already open at leading online bookmaker Luxbet, who have Ranger as the current $2.20 favourite to win tomorrow’s showdown.
Drawn ideally in barrier three, the Grant Williams-trained Ranger looks hard to beat as the classy Testa Rossa four-year-old will advantage from the step back in class here.
Ranger produced an eye-catching second behind God Has Spoken in the Group 3 RJ Peter Stakes (1500m) on November 13 and more recently ran a credible fifth behind Playing God in the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) last Saturday.
Stepping down in class and also weight tomorrow, Ranger will continue to gain support from the punters so now is the time to get behind them at their current price through Luxbet!
The biggest firmer in the WA St Leger betting markets has been Mighty Rossa, shortening in from their opening quote of $3.00 into the $2.80 second favourite.
Another Testa Rossa four-year-old, Michael Grant’s Mighty Rossa is coming off a solid win in the New Atrium Buffet (1800m) here but needs to step it up carrying four kilos more in the St Leger tomorrow.
Two other runners in the eight-horse W.A. St Leger field are at single figure odds through Luxbet with Hoegaarden paying $6 and Joesready now at $9 drifting out from $8.
Hoegaarden represents excellent value tomorrow, the impressive Flying Spur three-year-old having won the Listed Fairetha Stakes (1400m) here in October before running third to Playing God in the Group 2 WA Guineas (1600m) and then second to Playing God again in the Listed Aquanita Stakes (1800m) last start.
Hoegaarden is drawn on the rails and is set to carry just 54kg making them an excellent lightweight chance for an upset here.
The 2010 Perth Ice Works W.A. St. Leger is scheduled to run as Race 4 at Ascot tomorrow, jumping at 6:05pm (AEDST).
