Dysphonia Wins 2010 Festival Stakes – Rosehill Race Results

In an upset result at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday December 4, Peter Snowden’s classy mare Dysphonia scored victory in the feature race of the day winning the $100,000 Listed Festival Stakes (1500m).

Four-year-old Lonhro mare Dysphonia went out at juicy $16 odds on the tote and after hitting the lead early was able to hold on and storm home, beating the Gai Waterhouse-trained Newcastle Cup winner Stratofortress ($4.40), who made a gallant late charge, by half a length.

Roughie Southern Skye ($26) finished off the trifecta coming in third over three lengths away from the winner.

It was a nine-horse race for the 2010 Festival Stakes on Saturday following the scratching of five runners including the original favourite, Hawkesbury Gold Cup winner Thankgodyou’rehere.

Snowden’s other runner Parthian went out as the $2.30 favourite, but could only manage fourth behind their winning stablemate.

With the heavy track conditions at Rosehill on Saturday and Dysphonia never having handled the wet, Snowden almost scratched the mare from the race.

Dysphonia has now won six of her 15 career starts for $228,781 in prize money and will head towards the Group 2 Villiers Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on December 18.

Runner-up Stratofortress will now be aimed at the Group 3 Summer Cup (2400m) at Randwick on Boxing Day.

This Saturday the summer racing action at Rosehill continues with the Listed Christmas Cup (2400m), and to get the hottest odds on the staying showdown, make sure you place your wagers online with Luxbet!
