2010 Kingston Town Classic Day Betting Tips

Tomorrow the final Group 1 feature of the Perth Summer Racing Carnival will take place at Ascot Racecourse and here punters can get an early guide to all the races with the Races.com.au team’s insider 2010 Kingston Town Classic Day betting tips.

A bumper line-up nine races are scheduled for Saturday, the racing action at Ascot headlined by Race 7 – the $500,000 Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) where a cracker field of gallopers will battle it out.

Two other black-type features highlight the card and give punters some ‘big win’ betting opportunities for the first weekend of summer, with races six and eight.

Race six is the $125,000 Group 3 Lee Steere Classic (1400m) for three-year-olds and then race eight is the $80,000 Listed G.A. Towton Cup (2200m).

Read on below to see our exclusive tips for all the Ascot races tomorrow, complete with the horses we have rated special to win and the two other top picks from the fields to add into your exotics like the Trifectas through Luxbet.

Ascot Race 1 Tips – Westspeed 2YO Plate (1100m)

  • Races.com.au Favourite: #2 Theatron – Rated Special to Win – Check odds at Luxbet
  • Best Place Bets: #1 Screaming Plum and #6 Irma La Dane

Theatron is a promising young gelding trained by George Davies coming off a winning barrier trial over 1000m at Belmont, drawn well in barrier three which is important in these juvenile races, can win on debut.

Ascot Race 2 Tips – Westspeed 3YO Handicap (1100m)

  • Races.com.au Favourite: #2 Du Printemps – Rated Special to Win at $11 Luxbet
  • Best Place Bets: #1 Uma Park and #5 Proud Hero

Du Printemps is an excellent roughie pick to win. Very generous odds on the Oratorio gelding, coming off a big victory at Pinjarra over 1000m where they carried 57.5kg to victory, will definitely benefit from the slight drop back in weight.

Uma Park is drawn well for this and Jim Taylor’s Proud Hero is a good place chance coming off a gallant third place finish to Black Felix in the Listed Placid Ark Stakes (1200m) at the Ascot track.

Ascot Race 3 Tips – Better Loosen Up Handicap (1800m)

  • Races.com.au Favourite: #2 Dominicano – Rated Special to Win at $3.90 Luxbet
  • Best Place Bets: #3 Big Ted and #6 Yabigorse

Dominicano has a nice draw and great form, the Blackfriars five-year-old having won here two starts back before running second over 1600m last start.

Big Ted will start the favourite and will take some beating, while Yabigrose is an ideal lightweight chance with just 53kg.

Ascot Race 4 Tips – Vo Rogue Handicap (1600m)

  • Races.com.au Favourite: #12 Reflection – Rated Special to Win – Check odds at Luxbet
  • Best Place Bets: #7 On The Warpath and #4 Escape Velocity

Reflection benefits from their rails draw and huge drop back in weight to just 53.5kg, can cause an upset here after a close second with 59kg on their back last start.

Escape Velocity for Adam Durrant is a Hussonet gelding that is one of the favourites, won’t win but will place.

Ascot Race 5 Tips – Lord Mayor’s Cup (1400m)

  • Races.com.au Favourite: #8 Broome Time – Rated Special to Win at $4.60 Luxbet
  • Best Place Bets: #11 Wolfe Dreams and #3 Kens Double

Broome Time has been a slight drifter in the market but still the deserved favourite. Nice barrier four draw and is reunited with regular rider S. O’Donnell. Has won over the distance and will thrive with less weight on their back carrying 54kg tomorrow after having 57kg last start.

Wolfe Dreams also has a nice draw and is lightly weighted while Kens Double adds value to the Trifecta, the Kendle Star six-year-old prepared by one of the best in the business, Neville Parnham, and coming off a solid fourth in the Group 3 Carbine Club of WA Stakes (1400m).

Ascot Race 6 Tips – Sir Ernest Lee Steere Classic (1400m)

  • Races.com.au Favourite: #1 Black Felix – Rated Special to Win at $2.80 Luxbet
  • Best Place Bets: #7 Even Astar and #3 Veracious

Black Felix clear favourite here and should not be bet against. Out wide but this classy Blackfriars three-year-old has never finished out of the money, has an imposing record coming off three straight wins at the track including their tidy Listed Placid Ark Stakes (1200m) victory last start.

Even Astar is a lovely grey filly with three wins from six starts proving her potential, finished second in the Placid Ark and will give Black Felix a run for his money again.

Veracious the other pick of the field to finish in the money, adds value with double figure odds, against lesser rivals would stand a better chance.

Ascot Race 7 Tips – GR Engineering Kingston Town Classic (1800m)

  • Races.com.au Favourite: #9 Trusting – Rated Special to Win at $8 Luxbet
  • Best Place Bets: #4 Famous Roman and #16 Playing God

Sydney raider Trusting to cause an upset in the marquee race of the day. Worked impressively at the track throughout the week, adjusting well to Ascot and will have improved after their eye-catching sixth in the Railway Stakes.

Famous Roman drawn wider but this will work in their favour, has brilliant form and as a six-year-old is a top place pick. Favourite Playing God will come close but won’t finish them off.

Ascot Race 8 Tips – G.A. Towton Cup (2200m)

  • Races.com.au Favourite: #2 Aquinas – Rated Special to Win at $4.40 Luxbet
  • Best Place Bets: #4 Brandy Lane and #1 Guyno

Lots to like about Aquinas. Drawn on the rails, well weighted with 54kg and coming off a good win in the Listed Tattersall’s Cup (2100m) at the track.

Same top three finish as the Tattersall’s with Brandy Lane and Guyno finishing second and third again.

Ascot Race 9 Tips – Festival of Perth Racing Handicap (1200m)

  • Races.com.au Favourite: #11 Alchemic – Rated Special to Win – Check odds at Luxbet
  • Best Place Bets: #1 Danes Mystery and #6 Freetime

Alchemic has good barrier two draw, nice last start win behind them and can cause an upset at juicy odds.
