Zero Rock Wins 2010 Travel Associates Classic Fillies & Mares Plate

Kelso Wood’s in-form mare Zero Rock made it back-to-back wins at Eagle Farm on Saturday November 27, claiming victory in the $80,000 Listed Travel Associates Classic Fillies and Mares Plate (1200m).

Five-year-old daughter of Danezero, Zero Rock went out as the short priced favourite in the 2010 Classic Fillies and Mares Plate and gave the punters a win as she held on to defeat Phenomenal Lass ($10) by a long neck with the Gillian Heinrich-trained Swiss Rose ($16) just a short half head further back in third.

Cicarelli, a $101 chance in the race, came in fourth adding amazing value to the First Four payouts.

Zero Rock has now won nine of her 17 career starts for over $480,000 in prize money, Saturday’s success her first stakes victory and also the first black-type win for Zero Rock’s dam Broc ‘N’ Roll who Wood also trained.

Wood has named the Listed Lough Neagh Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on December 18 as Zero Rock’s next race start, after which he will tackle the Magic Millions Cup (1400m) at the Gold Coast in early January, a race that she placed a gallant second to Walking Or Dancing in at the start of this year.

In the meantime, the hottest summer racing action is taking place in Perth including the $500,000 Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) this Saturday.
