Premardal Wins 2010 Jungle Dawn Classic

It was a day for upsets at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday, with double figure outsider Premardal taking out the first black-type race of the day with a win in the $80,000 Listed Jungle Dawn Classic (1400m).

Todd Harvey’s well-bred Shamardal mare Premardal ($15) defeated a field of classy fillies and mares in the 2010 Jungle Dawn Classic, scoring just her third career win from 13 starts.

After jumping from her wide barrier 16 draw, Premardal quickly raced to the lead and was never threatened in a stunning all-the-way win that equalled the state record time of 1:20.90.

In a comprehensive victory, jockey Michael Walker rode Premardal across the line first defeating Tranquility ($5) by one and a half lengths with Canardly Miss ($18) a further two lengths away for third.

The $4.20 favourite Power Princess failed to back up from her Jungle Mist Classic win, finishing a well beaten ninth over five lengths away from the winner on Saturday.

Four-year-old Premardal has now earned $152,150 in career prize money.

Connections of runner-up Tranquility are now looking at the $80,000 Listed Starstruck Classic (1600m) at Ascot on December 11.

The next major feature of the Perth Summer Racing Carnival will take place this Saturday when Ascot hosts the $500,000 Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m).

Betting on the race will re-open shortly following the release of the final field this afternoon, so be prepared for a big weekend win by opening an account with leading bookmaker Luxbet today!
