2010 Miracle Mile Results – Smoken Up Wins in Record Time

Champion eight-year-old pacer Smoken Up set a new Australasian mile record winning the 2010 Miracle Mile at Tabcorp Park Menangle in a blistering 1:50.3 on Saturday night.

Smashing the current mile track record, the Lance Justice-trained and driven Smoken Up ($6.40) showed exactly what they were made of with a brave run the entire mile without cover, charging to the line in a thrilling finish just a half head over star Queenslander Blacks A Fake ($3.90), Villagem ($10.10) coming in third just over three meters further away.

It was a disappointing result for the favourite backers with defending champion and $2.60 top pick Monkey King finishing sixth, nine lengths away from the winner.

Smoken Up (by Tinted Cloud out of Carnlough Bay) has now won 41 of his 83 career starts for close to $1.7 million in prize money.

The gelding will now head back to Victoria with the $425,000 Group 1 Victoria Cup the next target on December 18.
