Classy European mare Profound Beauty has been retired from racing, a well beaten finish in this year’s Melbourne Cup disappointingly her final career performance.

The now seven-year-old daughter of Danehill enjoyed an impressive career that included nine wins, four seconds and three thirds from her 21 starts earning in excess of $930,849 in prize money.

Career highlights included three Group status wins and a gallant fifth to Viewed in the 2008 Melbourne Cup.

After returning to Australia for the 150^th edition of the Melbourne Cup back in November this year, Profound Beauty could only manage to finish a distant 17^th, which unfortunately was her swansong race.

Profound Beauty will now serve as a broodmare.
