Today’s Horse Racing – Thursday October 18th

In the lead up to this weekend’s $1 million Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) at Ascot, punters can enjoy a great day’s racing today, Thursday October 18, to get the wins underway with six cracker TAB race meetings planned around the country.

Race tracks in Victoria, Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia and New South Wales are all host to race days today, with Gosford’s $125,000 Listed Gosford Gold Cup (2100m) the major attraction.

With so many great races set to run today, and the 2010 Gosford Gold Cup featuring talented gallopers including Rainbow Styling, Kimilsy and Spinney, punters would be crazy not to get in on the racing action!

The other black-type race on today is the $90,000 Listed 111th Country Club Tasmania Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Launceston, due to jump at 9:38pm (AEDST) tonight.

Gosford in NSW has the biggest race meet of the day, headlined by Race 7 – the $125,000 Listed Gosford Gold Cup (2100m) set to jump at 4:55pm (AEDST). Zabeel gelding Rainbow Styling is the current favourite to win the Cup today paying $4.60 at Luxbet, but with 13 other talented stayers all lining up make sure you check out the full markets!

Rockhampton hosts Queensland’s major TAB meeting this afternoon with a compact six race card set to kick off with the Class 2 Cambridge Hotel Handicap at 2:35pm (AEDST).

Port Lincoln in South Australia has seven top races programmed for today, starting with the $10,000 Lawrence & Hanson Maiden Plate (1200m) due to jump at 1:45pm (AEDST). Another highlight on the card will be Race 5 – the Yalumba Rating 0-83 Handicap with a small but quality field of sprinters facing off.

Launceston is home to a massive 10-event race programme in Tasmania tonight, the Twilight meet action due to start with the $12,100 Tas Breeders 3YO Maiden Plate (1100m) at 5:34pm (AEDST). Other features on the card to get in on include Race 8 – the $60,000 Jackson Motor Company 3YO Cup (1200m) and Race 9 – the $90,000 Listed 111th Country Club Tasmania Newmarket Handicap (1200m) where the likes of Testapal, Western Wager and Gold In Dubai will face off.

Narrogin in Western Australia has a seven-race card scheduled to take place this afternoon with Race 1 – the XXXX Gold Maiden (920m) first up at 4:49pm (AEDST) and proceedings coming to a close with the final race due to jump at 8:30pm (AEDST).
