If the emergencies don’t get a run, there doesn’t look to be a lot of speed in the race. I expect Wall Street to perform well as he comes out of the Cox Plate for this and is back at his pet distance of 1600m where he has won 8 of 12 attempts. Good jockey change with Hugh Bowman going on and he also has blinkers for the first time. Looks capable of being able to dictate terms to suit. Luen Yat Forever didn’t appear to handle the atmosphere at Moonee Valley, but if he can get back to his good fourth in the Toorak over this distance he can run well. Palacio De Cristal looks beautifully placed here down with 52.5kg. She wouldn’t want it any worse than a dead track, but she’s a quality mare. If Demerit can get a run he’ll be very hard to beat. He’s been set for this race for all along and looks ready for a win. This will be a really good competitive race.
Patinack Farm Classic
The much anticipated clash between Hay List and Black Caviar is finally upon us. Tactics will be crucial to this race. Hay List has had the minor setback last week, but shouldn’t be too effected by that. I expect him to try and pour the pressure onto Black Caviar a fair way out. She’s been so outstanding in all of her races to date that no horse has ever had the strength to apply pressure to her, but Hay List should be capable. It should be a fascinating race. It wouldn’t be completely unexpected for the three year old Star Witness to storm home and create something of an upset here. He’s flying at present.
This looks a really string race with plenty of form to come out of the Geelong Cup. Horses like Moudre, Mr Charlie, Exceptionally and Drunken Sailor come through that race. Good betting race.
