Can Black Caviar Win The 2010 Patinack Farm Classic?

Sprint stars Black Caviar and Hay List will finally face off in the 2010 Patinack Farm Classic on Saturday. Let’s look at whether Black Caviar can keep up her undefeated record against one of the greatest champions in this Spring Racing Carnival.

Black Caviar’s record isn’t just special because she is undefeated in her 7 race career. It’s also special because she has won most of those at the 1200 metre distance and often by long margins. Her last start in the Group 2 Schweppes Stakes saw her finish 5.5 lengths ahead of Hot Danish – an incredible achievement. If that’s all you need to here, then you should join Luxbet now and bet on Black Caviar to win.

There are definitely weaknesses in this record, however, and they may give rival Hay List the edge. First, Black Caviar has yet to run in a Group 1 race. While she has still beaten some great competition, it could be that the fields she has raced in haven’t been as tough as those Hay List has faced.

Black Caviar has also never run on a wet track before – only good or dead conditions. With the crazy weather in Melbourne, this could be a problem, though reports suggest the track will probably be dead on the day. A little bad luck with the weather could easily ruin Black Caviar’s run, though.

All in all, bets on Black Caviar depend on her record being proof of absolute dominance in sprints. The Patinack Farm Classic will really be her first true test – but will she be up to it?
