Race 1 – Hong Kong Jockey Club Maribyrnong Plate (GROUP 3) 1000m
Two year old race, of the runners who have had a race start Eramor trained by David Hayes looks hard to beat, from the Lee Freeman trained Masthead who was unlucky last start and might be good value here. Peter Snowden’s first starter Whitlam is unlikely to labour in the race and is rated a chance first up.
Race 2 – Masterfoods Condiments Plate 1600m
Trader ran a great race last start and we have him on top to beat Launay if it backs up after its tough win on Tuesday on Oaks Day, and we put Eraset in for 3rd.
Race 3 – 7mate Handicap 2000m
We hate to say it but we rate Playwright a good chance to win this race ahead of Red Colossus and Galizani. I’m Imposing was very disappointing on Tuesday at Flemington but it was a bad ride as he was on the rail the whole race.
Race 4 – Hilton Hotels Stakes (LISTED) 1400m
Tough race with an even bunch, not really keen on the likely favourite Territory and think you are better off putting your money on Bigelow to win from That’s Not It with Territory for 3rd
Race 5 – Patinack Farm Classic (GROUP 1) 1200m
The Patinack Farm classic is the race we have all been waiting for and we put the monster horse on top, Hay List, he will make sure the pressure is on all the way and we think will find Black Caviar out. Star Witness is flying but can’t beat the first two home but will fight out 3rd with All Silent and Eagle Falls.
Race 6 – Emirates Stakes (GROUP 1) 1600m
The Emirates Stakes is always a tough race to win but top-line kiwi horse Wall Street does look like he has the class to win this coming back to the mile from a game 7th in the Cox Plate and looks to have the right form to take this out. Throw a dart for second but we will stick with Captain Sonador and Black Piranha at any odds to fill the placings.
Race 7 – Matriarch Stakes (GROUP 2) 2000m
Going to give Keep The Peace a chance here to beat Lady Lynette and Lovemelikearock. We think Purple has had enough for this prep.
Race 8 – Queen’s Cup (GROUP 3) 2600m
This is the consolation for the Melbourne Cup and we don’t like Moudre, was always chasing his tail to get into the Cups so we don’t think it has had the ideal preparation for this either and it will be under the odds. We are tipping Above Average to beat My Bentley and Capecover.
Race 9 – Emirates Airline Handicap 1400m
We can’t back We’re Gonna Rock here, always gets talked up but is yet to really deliver. It’s hard to knock We’re Gonna Rock when placed behind More Joyous but we prefer some value with Lady Gaga to beat Keano and Berringama.
