Niblick Wins The Grazia Ultimate Style Guide – VRC Crown Oaks Day Race 9 Results

Owner Lloyd Williams has enjoyed a win in the final race on the Crown Oaks Day card at Flemington this afternoon with a smart victory from his improving gelding Niblick in the $100,000 The Grazia Ultimate Style Guide (1600m).

The Michael Moroney-trained St Ives pushed to the front early to take the lead, while Niblick sat back eventually poised in fourth after jockey Nicholas Hall had to fight to get him to settle.

On the sprint home St Ives was still the leader with 400m to go continuing to kick on.

Then Niblick took the lead and pulled away around the 100m mark digging deep for the win, St Ives hanging on for second while third place went to Glenisla Crossing, also impressive having sat second behind the leader from the start.

Niblick has now won four of their six career starts, still with lots to learn and showing plenty of promise.

There is still one meeting left to finish off the 2010 Melbourne Cup Carnival, Emirates Stakes Day taking place at Flemington this Saturday.
