King Cobweb Wins TCL Electronics All Greys Plate From Dead End – VRC Crown Oaks Day Race 5 Results

Four-year-old gelding King Cobweb has won the fifth race at Flemington’s VRC Crown Oaks meeting today, emerging as the winning grey in the $100,000 TCL Electronics Plate (1400m).

The Desert King grey trained by John Rattle was prime on the day, able to run down and defeat the favourite, a top value winner that was paying $13 through Luxbet.

Getting away well the Leon Corstens-trained Alpha Proxima hit the lead early with Michael Moroney’s Dead End settled into second.

In a tough battle to the line $3.20 favourite Dead End, having just their second career start today, hit the front but their inexperience had them lacking the final finesse to finish off.

King Cobweb, given a run timed to perfection by jockey Chris Symons, dropped his head on the line to just grab the win approximately a head in front of Dead End with Alpha Proxima hanging on for third.

The feature race of the day is next up at Flemington, with 12 star fillies ready to face off in the $1 million Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) at 2:55pm (AEDST).

Can $3 favourite Brazilian Pulse come through for the punters? Or will one of the other quality runners cause an upset with the likes of Thousand Guineas winner Yosei ($12), Placement ($11) and Dizlago ($14) all among the Crown Oaks field.

Whichever filly you are backing make sure you get them at the best price by signing up with Luxbet, offering the Tote + 20% on the Crown Oaks today!
