2010 Gucci Stakes Winner Curtana – VRC Crown Oaks Day Race 4 Results

Peter Moody’s Curtana is the winner of Crown Oaks Day Race 4 at Flemington today, securing victory ahead of a classy field of fillies in the $150,000 Listed Gucci Stakes (1200m).

The Exceed And Excel filly started the clear favourite at $4.20 thorough Luxbet and hung on in a win for the punters!

Anabaa’s Legacy set the pace, settling at the front of the field with a narrow lead.

In a well timed ride from jockey Ben Melham, who has scored the mount on unbeaten mare Black Caviar in the Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic this Saturday, Curtana rose up through the field on the straight challenging Anabaa’s Legacy and hit the lead with 200m to go.

The filly then dug in and hung on to win over John Thompson’s Wonderful Lass with $51 roughie Candy Stripes pulling in for third and adding value to the Trifecta.

Flemington Race 4 was run on a Slow 7 track, conditions having improved from the Heavy rating this morning.

The next event on the Crown Oaks Day card this afternoon is Race 5 – the $100,000 TCL Electronics Plate (1400m) for greys.
