2010 Hawkesbury Gold Cup Field, Form & Odds

Tomorrow while the action of the Crown Oaks Day takes place at Flemington, in New South Wales another Group race highlights the card at Hawkesbury with the $125,000 Group 3 Hawkesbury Gold Cup (1600m) set to take place.

The 2010 Hawkesbury Gold Cup has attracted a final field of 10 gallopers, with Thankgodyour’ehere the favourite.

Trained by Patrick and Wayne Webster, Secret Savings gelding Thankgodyou’rehere is a super consistent five-year-old that has won six of their 10 career starts and placed second in another three, the shortest-priced runner in the Gold Cup currently paying $2.40 at Luxbet.

Due to be ridden by regular rider Rod Quinn, Thankgodyou’rehere is drawn in barrier six and is an excellent lightweight chance carrying just 53kg.

Close second favourite in the odds is Glintz at $2.60.

The John O’Shea-trained Pins gelding is coming off four consecutive wins, including their last-star victory over 1500m at Rosehill.

Other notable horses in the Hawkesbury Gold Cup field are Gai Waterhouse’s highly rated six-year-old Joku, the Peter Snowden-trained Spinney coming off a sixth place in the Craven Plate and set to start on the rails, and veteran Flying Spur gelding Mentality also drawn well in barrier two.

The 2010 Panthers Hawkesbury Gold Cup is scheduled as Race 7 on the card and is due to jump at 4:48pm (AEDST).
