Horses that Need to Win the Lexus Stakes at Derby Day to Make 2010 Melbourne Cup Field
One of the most important races on the Victoria Derby Day card is up next at Flemington today as a field of 2010 Melbourne Cup hopefuls battle it out in the Group 3 The Lexus Stakes (2500m).
Due to jump as Flemington Race 2 at 11:50pm (AEDST), the 2010 The Lexus Stakes winner gains a Melbourne Cup ballot exemption and will sneak into the 24-horse Melbourne Cup field.
Melbourne Cup entries that need to win The Lexus Stakes at Flemington are:
- Alcopop
- Herculian Prince
- Mourayan
- Red Ruler
- Linton
- Moudre
All are outside the top 24 on the Melbourne Cup order of entry, and The Lexus Stakes results will help determine the final configuration for the Melbourne Cup field.
