The 2500 meter Lexus Stakes was the semi final for a lot of horses trying to make the cut for Tuesdays 2010 Melbourne Cup field. Now onto the grand final for Maluckyday who now deservedly takes his place in the Cup. But whether Maluckyday runs in the Melbourne Cup is now up to John Hawkes.
He was very strong on the line and got a good run into the race following Linton everywhere then just powered away in the last 200 meters.
Unfortunately the fate a few other runners depends on final acceptances which will be take later later today. Horses still on the borderline or making the field include Linton.
Unfortunately for Gai Waterhouse’s Herculian Prince and Ciaron Maher’s Moudre there is virtually no chance for them to be able to line up in the Cup this year.
