The 2010 Caulfield Cup barrier draw took place today in anticipation of the $2.5 million Group 1 handicap feature due to run at Caulfield this Saturday.
Yesterday the 2010 Caulfield Cup Field of Acceptors was released, the 18-horse final field featuring the likes of Melbourne Cup winner Shocking, Japanese stayer Tokai Trick, Hong Kong’s Mr Medici and last minute inclusions Alcopop and Herculian Prince.
The chances of the quality field of stayers on Saturday relies heavily on the barriers drawn, with the Caulfield Cup odds at Ladbrokes.com.au to be released after the draw.
For the first time in Caulfield Cup history, the connections of the hopeful horses got to select their own barriers for their runners.
This gives owners the chance to give their horses a wider draw if the track is wet and chopped up.
Stay tuned for our detailed Caulfield Cup Preview and Betting Tips following the barrier draw.
Alcopop has drawn very wide with barrier 22 and is now likely to drop out of the top of the betting.
The emergencies secured the best barriers, causing a stir with the punters.
