The 2010 Emirates Stakes is the final Group 1 race of the iconic Melbourne Cup Carnival, set to take place at Flemington as the headline event of Emirates Stakes Day on Thursday November 6.
Worth $1 million in prize money, the Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) is a prestigious handicap feature that will attract a field of the season’s best milers.
Run on the last of the four Cup Carnival racedays, the Emirates Stakes is one of nine races held at the meeting, the other highlight for punters being the Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic (1200m).

- $1 million Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m)
- $750,000 Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic (1200m)
- $300,000 Group 2 Matriarch Stakes (2000m)
- $250,000 Group 3 Queen’s Cup (2600m)
- $150,000 Group 3 Hong Kong Jockey Club Maribyrnong Plate (1000m)
The 2010 Emirates Stakes nominations will be taken on November 1, with leading online bookmaker Sportsbet set to open their betting markets on the race around the same time.
Horses heading towards the Emirates Stakes this Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival include the John Thompson-trained Gathering, dual Group 1 winning mare Hot Danish and New Zealand’s top galloper Wall Street.
