2010 The Metropolitan Final Field, Barriers & Weights

A top class field of 13 gallopers will face off this Saturday in the $400,000 Group 1 The Metropolitan (2400m) as part of the action of Randwick’s Epsom Handicap Day.

The 2010 The Metropolitan field features some of the spring’s best contenders, including last start winner of the Colin Stephen Quality Handicap No Wine No Song.

Kevin Moses’ veteran nine-year-old No Wine No Song scored a classy win in the Colin Stephen in an upset result where the pronounced favourite Herculian Prince faded to finish last.

No Wine No Song has drawn ideally for Saturday in barrier one and this combined with their good form should see them start at the top of the odds.

Gai Waterhouse’s five-year-old gelding Herculian Prince is also backing up in The Metropolitan, the Kingston Town Stakes winner still getting plenty of love from the punters despite their poor finish in the Colin Stephen.

No Wine No Song’s stablemate Get Up Jude, who gave Moses the Colin Stephen quinella running second, is another top chance in The Metropolitan drawn in barrier seven.

Other horses with claims on Saturday include Anthony Cummings’ Zabeel four-year-old Landlocked drawn ideally in barrier two, in-form seven-year-old Crabs (barrier eight)* coming off three consecutive wins and Peter Moody’s Kiwi runner Mr Charlie (barrier nine).

The marquee race at Randwick on Saturday is the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) where Neeson and Trusting are the two top fancies.

A number of other great Group races also highlight the card including the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m), Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) and the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m).

If you take just three minutes to sign up with top online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au now, not only will you get the best odds in Australia on the horse races, but you will also be rewarded with a free $300 bet bonus!

*Note: Crabs has been scratched from the 2010 The Metropolitan
