2010 Flight Stakes Field Features Star Fillies More Strawberries & Parables

A field of the spring’s finest fillies will take to the Randwick track on Saturday to contest the $400,000 Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) as part of the action of Epsom Handicap Day.

The 2010 Coolmore Flight Stakes has drawn a 12-filly final field lead by Gai Waterhouse’s impressive young runner More Strawberries.

In red hot form this season, More Than Ready filly More Strawberries claimed her maiden win in the Furious Stakes and then made it two from two with a smart victory in the Tea Rose Stakes last start.

Drawn ideally in the coveted barrier one and on the back of such great success, More Strawberries will start the warm Flight Stakes favourite at Sportsbet.

Waterhouse will also be represented by her improving daughter of Encosta De Lago, Zutara (barrier four) in the Flight Stakes.

More Strawberries main rival this season has been Parables, and the two will face off again on Saturday with the Peter Snowden-trained Lonhro filly set to jump from barrier six.

Parables enjoyed success over More Strawberries in the Silver Shadow Stakes last month before finishing third to her in the Furious and second in the Tea Rose last start.

Other classy runners in the Flight Stakes that have claims include Stuart Webb’s AJC Sires Produce Stakes winner Yosei (barrier nine) and the John Thompson-trained Heartsareforlove (barrier five) coming of a third place finish in the Newcastle Spring Stakes.

As well as the Flight Stakes, Randwick will be home to a host of other top races on Saturday including the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) headlined by Neeson and Trusting, and the Group 1 The Metropolitan (2400m) where Herculian Prince will seek revenge on No Wine No Song after last Saturday’s Colin Stephen Quality upset.

Now is the best time to head to Ladbrokes.com.au and open an account with the bookie that will provide you with the greatest odds and biggest payouts on the weekend racing!

Note: Unbeaten filly Brazillan Pulse has been scratched from the 2010 Flight Stakes
