Lots of Value in 2010 Bill Ritchie Handicap Field & Odds

Punters looking for value with their weekend race wagers should turn their attention to Randwick Racecourse and the $125,000 Group 3 Bill Ritchie Handicap (1400m) on Saturday.

An 11-horse final field will start in the 2010 Bill Ritchie Handicap and looking at the odds shows there any number of top chances to win the feature.

Currently the Peter Snowden-trained Drumbeats in barrier four is the favourite to win, with leading online bookie Sportsbet paying $4.20 for the five-year-old.

Coming off a first-up fourth in the Theo Marks Stakes, the punters are backing Drumbeats to improve in its second spring start on Saturday.

Even though Drumbeats is sure to be at the front of the field, we fancy a few other Bill Ritchie runners that could cause an upset or make great value picks in a Trifecta.

Despite drawing wide with barrier 11, Gai Waterhouse’s unbeaten gelding Pureness is one of our favourites.

Having won all four of their starts to date, Pureness is starting in their first Stakes race and if they can get to the front from the outside will finish in the money.

Another excellent lightweight chance is the David Payne-trained Girl Hussler.

Drawn ideally on the rails, due to carry just 53kg and coming off two eye-catching second places in the Sheraco Stakes and Research Stakes, Girl Hussler is a classy mare that should do well even in open company.

Our other top roughie is Kenny’s World in barrier eight currently at a generous quote of $12 through Sportsbet.

The Graeme Murray-trained Kenny’s World has enjoyed two impressive wins this spring after winning the Show County Quality as a $41 chance and then causing another upset claiming victory in the Cameron Handicap at Newcastle last week.

Other headline races at Randwick on Saturday worth a punt on include the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) where glamour mare More Joyous is the raging favourite, the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes (1400m) featuring top three-year-olds Decision Time and Masquerader, and the Group 3 Colin Stephen Quality Handicap (2400m) headed by Herculian Prince.

For the best odds on all these spring features Ladbrokes.com.au is the place to go with their generous quotes, easy-to-access markets and bonus free bets for new sign ups!
