As part of the action of this Friday night’s Manikato Stakes meeting at Moonee Valley, four Group races will take place including the $200,000 Group 2 Stutt Stakes (1600m).
The 2010 Stutt Stakes has attracted a final field of 14 three-year-olds, with three-year-old colt Hollowlea coming up trumps in the barrier draw with gate one.
Winner of the Henry Bucks Best Dressed Stakes, the Terry and Karina O’Sullivan-trained Hollowlea is coming off a sixth place in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude and is likely to start as one of the favourites on Friday night as they head towards the 2010 Caulfield Guineas.
A key lead-up to the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) on October 9, the Stutt Stakes features many other Guineas hopefuls including Epic Dragon, Bullbars and Liveandletdie.
Last start winner over 1500m at Moonee Valley, the Leon Corstens-trained Epic Dragon is another top pick but has suffered a blow after drawing wider with barrier nine.
Peter Snowden’s Bullbars is also in good form and will be ridden by Mark Zahra while the Mark Kavanagh-trained Liveandletdie is also coming off a victory, the well bred Street Cry colt jumping from gate four.
Only three of the runners in the Stutt Stakes field are not entered for the Caulfield Guineas with Ulundi, Oforawesome and Maraaseem.

The headline race under the lights at Moonee Valley on Friday is the Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) where consistent gallopers Hay List and Reward For Effort will face off.
Other Group race features a the meeting are the Group 3 JRA Cup (2040m) featuring a field full of 2010 Caulfield Cup hopefuls and the Group 3 Champagne Stakes (1200m) where star fillies Military Rose, Chance Bye and Solar Charged line up.
