Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
While most of the attention will be focused at Caulfield this Saturday with the running of the Group 1 Underwood Stakes and Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes, Sydney’s Rosehill Racecourse is also set to host a top day of racing headlined by the $175,000 Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1500m).
The 2010 Rydges Parramatta Tea Rose Stakes has attracted a small but quality final field of nine three-year-old fillies headlined by the Gai Waterhouse-trained More Strawberries.
Drawn ideally in barrier three, More Than Ready filly More Strawberries claimed her maiden victory in emphatic style last start when she took out the Furious Stakes (1400m) at Randwick and is seeking her second victory on Saturday.
Another highly rated filly that has come up trumps in the 2010 Tea Rose Stakes barrier draw is Peter Snowden’s Parables.
Set to jump from gate two with Corey Brown aboard, Parables ran a gallant third to More Strawberries in the Furious Stakes and will be seeking revenge here.
Other notable runners in the Tea Rose worth checking out the odds on are John O’Shea’s Ambers Waltz that despite coming off two seventh place finishes looks a good Place bet after drawing the prized barrier one, and the Anthony Cummings-trained Gybe who placed ninth in the Golden Rose.
Five Group status races are scheduled to run at Rosehill on Saturday including the Group 2 Hill Stakes (1900m) featuring Chris Waller’s Triple Honour and Hawk Island, Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) where Hinchinbrook should start the favourite and the Group 2 Shannon Stakes (1500m).
