Midweek horse racing today, on the first day of spring, will take place in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia.
Metropolitan race meets running today will be at Warwick Farm in Sydney, Doomben in Brisbane and Belmont in Perth. There will also be country racing at Ballarat in Victoria, Armidale in New South Wales and Balaklava in South Australia.
The race days running today include LIA Raceday at Doomben, Ladies Day at Ballarat Turf Club and Balaklava Cup Day at Balaklava. Originally the race meeting at Armidale was scheduled for Saturday 28th August but was postponed until today.

The first race up today will be Race 1 at Balaklava, the Bardrill Barton Maiden Plate run over 1050m, at 12:08 AEST (AEST). One of the feature races today will be at Balaklava – the Balaklava Cup is Race 9 and will jump at 17:00 (AEST).
Today’s last race will be at 19:05 (AEST) in Perth, with Race 8 Racingjobs.Com.Au Handicap over 1200m at Belmont.
The weather today in Ballarat is showery with the track currently rated heavy, at Warwick Farm and Doomben it is fine and the tracks are rated good, at Balaklava it is overcast with a dead track, at Belmont it is showery and the track is good, and in Armidale the weather is fine but the track is heavy.
