Horse Racing for Friday 27 August

Provincial horse racing continues today with race meets in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and the Northern Territory.

Friday race meetings at Geelong and Muswellbrook will each have 9 races on the card while Ipswich will run 7 races. Racing will also head to the red centre with 5 races at Pioneer Park in Alice Springs.

Wagga was scheduled to run 8 races today but the race meet has been transferred to Naranderra and will be run tomorrow, Saturday 28 August.

The first race up today will be Geelong Race 1 at 12:07 (AEST), the Hardings Hardware Maiden Plate over 1100m. Today’s racing at Geelong will be run on the synthetic all-weather ThoroughTrack.

Racing will then wrap up at 17:28 (AEST) in Alice Springs with Race 5 – 2010 Cummins Cup over 1400m.

  • Geelong – racing starts at 12:07 (AEST)
  • Muswellbrook – racing starts at 12:10 (AEST) – UPDATE BELOW
  • Ipswich – racing starts at 13:02 (AEST)
  • Alice Springs – racing starts at 15:07 (AEST)
  • Wagga – cancelled today, transferred to Naranderra 28 August

UPDATE: Races 4 through 9 at Muswellbrook today have been abandoned due to the state of the track. Racing NSW will rebate $200 for starter’s who were intending to compete in these races.
