Reward For Effort Top Pick in 2010 Concorde Stakes Final Field

Peter Moody’s champion four-year-old Reward For Effort will start in their first Group race of the season on Saturday, starring in the $125,000 Group 3 Concorde Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill.

Reward For Effort, the Victoria-based son of Exceed And Excel that rose to fame after winning the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes last year, has opened as the equal $4 favourite for the 2010 Concorde Stakes at with Patronyme.

Having enjoyed a brilliant return to racing this season claiming victory first-up in the Listed J Monash Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield last month, Reward For Effort has drawn barrier five for Saturday and will be ridden by Nash Rawiller.

Moody has named the Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) under the lights at Moonee Valley on September 24 as Reward For Effort’s main spring goal.

The other hot favourite with the punters at in the Concorde Stakes betting is six-year-old mare Patronyme.

Trained by Joseph Pride at Warwick Farm, the daughter of More Than Ready won the Group 3 Birthday Card Stakes (1200m) during the autumn before finishing fifth in the Group 1 T J Smith Stakes (1200m).

Patronyme enjoyed a promising barrier trial win earlier in the month and will jump from gate seven with Joseph Pride aboard on Saturday.

Other starters lining up in the nine-horse final field include last year’s Concorde Stakes runner-up McClintock having his first-up start for the season, Peter Snowden’s Lonhro mare Trim and the ideally drawn Montana Flyer in barrier one.
