Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
This Saturday sees the action and betting excitement of the 2010 Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival step up a notch with a cracker meeting scheduled to run at Caulfield.
Two quality group showdowns will highlight the race card including the $125,000 Group 3 Cockram Stakes (1200m) featuring a capacity field of 16 mares plus four emergencies.
Many of the country’s top rated mares are having their first-up spring start in the 2010 Cockram Stakes on Saturday, making this the perfect race to enjoy a punt on through Ladbrokes.com.au.
One of the early fancies for the mares-only clash is Moonee Valley Classic winner My Emotion.
Trained by Michael Kent the Savabeel four-year-old is drawn mid-field in barrier eight and will be ridden by Brad Rawiller.
David Hayes has his smart Fastnet Rock mare Irish Lights returning in the Cockram, sure to be another favourite with the punters.
At her last start back in March Irish Lights ran a disappointing 12th to Alverta in the Coolmore Classic but the Thousand Guineas winner should be fresh and back in from following a spell and is a top chance despite a wide barrier draw.
Other mares with claims include Shamardal mare No Evidence Needed, the lightly-raced Victorian runner Response, and the Mark Kavanagh-trained duo of Puttanesca and Valentine Miss.
Puttanesca and Valentine Miss are due to be ridden by two of Australia’s best jockeys, Michael Rodd and Damien Oliver, but are drawn at opposite ends of the field in barriers 16 and two respectively.
The other major race at Caulfield this Saturday punters will be keen to bet on is the $200,000 Group 2 JJ Liston Stakes (1400m) shaping up to be a sensational race where Shoot Out, Shocking and So You Think will come head-to-head.
The 2010 Cockram Stakes is due to jump as race seven at Caulfield on Saturday at 4:00pm with betting markets opening soon at Ladbrokes.com.au.
More racing thrills will be taking place at Rosehill as part of the Sydney Spring Carnival with the running of the Group 3 Run To The Rose (1300m) where three-year-olds aiming at a berth in the $1 million Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) will trial.
The best betting tip for all of this weekend’s races is to skip the lines and inferior odds at the TAB and sign up at online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.
