2010 Darwin Cup Preview & Betting Odds

Today the $160,000 Darwin Cup (2000m) is due to take place as the Top End’s premier race at the closing Darwin Cup Carnival meeting, with 12 excellent stayers set to run in the feature.

The pronounced favourite currently paying $4 for a win through Ladbrokes.com.au is the Neil Dyer-trained Hawks Bay, who was a close second to Activation in the event last year.

The five-year-old Black Hawk gelding has had plenty of money come in from the punters despite their wide barrier 11 draw, and is coming off a gallant second to stablemate Palmyra Boy in the Metric Mile (1600m) at the same track.

However looking for a better value Darwin Cup bet, the perfectly drawn Brad Star is at the very generous odds of $14 through Ladbrokes.com.au.

Jumping from the inside barrier one, the veteran seven-year-old is a great chance that can win the Darwin Cup at juicy odds.

Other horses in the very open field with claims, which are perfect for Place bets through Ladbrokes.com.au, include Kerry Petrick’s in-form Adelaide-based duo of Shout Out Loud and He’s Here drawn in barriers eight and three respectively, as well as $31 shot Utility who will need some luck from the far outside barrier.

Last year’s Darwin Cup winner Activation is drawn out wide too and is paying $8 through Ladbrokes.com.au for a win, while stablemate of Hawks Bay and last start winner of the Metric Mile Palmyra Boy is at $7.50.

The Carlton Mid Darwin Cup is due to jump at 5:50pm as race nine at the Fannie Bay Turf Club.

There’s still time to sign up at Ladbrokes.com.au and get the best odds on the Darwin Cup. Don’t settle for the TAB, take five minutes now to open a Ladbrokes.com.au account and enjoy a free $200 bet bonus!
