Classy Danehill mare Profound Beauty, trained by leading Irish mentor Dermot Weld, is likely to run at Curragh this Sunday in the lead up to her Melbourne Cup campaign in the spring.
The six-year-old returned to racing at the end of last month and was super impressive winning first up in the Listed Saval Beg Stakes (2800m) ahead of Age Of Aquarius.
Her excellent form has prompted Weld to run her in one of the quality Irish races this weekend, her trainer looking at either the Group 1 Audi Pretty Polly Stakes (2,012) or in the Group 3 Curragh Cup (2,816m), which she took out in style last year.
The decision on whether she will run and in what race will be made depending on the ground conditions closer to the high-status meeting.
Weld has also mentioned the Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks (2,414m) in England as another possible run for Profound Beauty, who will be nominated for the historic 150th Melbourne Cup this November along with stablemate Rite Of Passage.
Rite of Passage won the Ascot Gold Cup in record breaking time last start, leading Weld to look at the Melbourne Cup for the talented stayer as well.
Profound Beauty ran a gallant fifth to Viewed in the 2008 Melbourne Cup and is one of the early favourites for the $6 million event this year. To get the best odds come Melbourne Cup Carnival time, head to our number one online bookmaker [sportsbet].
