Group 1 Schweppes Oaks Final Field & Preview

This Saturday Morphettville Racecourse will be home to one of the Adelaide racing carnival?s most anticipated meetings, featuring two terrific Group 1 races.

The $300, 000 Group 1 Schweppes Oaks (2000m), also known as the Australasian Oaks, is one of these prestigious events and this year the race has attracted 16 quality fillies plus three emergencies.

Winner of the Group 2 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic My Emotion is looking to secure back-to-back Group success on Saturday in the 2010 Schweppes Oaks. Trained by Michael Kent, the daughter of Savabeel has had only seven career starts and has saluted in three of those.

My Emotion will start from barrier 12 on Saturday and will be ridden by Steven King.

A number of highly rated contenders for the Schweppes Oaks have drawn poorly including the Danny O?Brien-trained Pins On Ice (18), John Thompson?s last start winner of the Listed Adelaide Guineas Small Minds (17) and Thompson?s other starter No Evidence Needed (19).

Contenders that have fared better in the barrier draw for Saturday include Richard Jolly?s improving filly I?m Discreet (2) and stablemate Shady Grove (3).

The other exciting Group 1 race scheduled for the meeting is the $300, 000 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) and the Group 3 The Jansz National Stakes will also run on the day.
