Typhoon Tracy Wins 2010 Futurity Stakes & Will Stay in Australia for Autumn

Champion mare Typhoon Tracy became a four time Group 1 winner when the Peter Moody-trained superstar defeated a small but quality field of rivals on Saturday at Caulfield in the $500, 000 Futurity Stakes (1600m).

An impressive daughter of Red Ransom, four-year-old Typhoon Tracy started as the hot $1.60 favourite and lead all the way to win ahead of Dao Dao ($7) by 2 ? lengths with the Tracey Bartley-trained Sniper?s Bullet in third a further half length back.

It was a scintillating run of 1:34.43 and Typhoon Tracy, with Luke Nolen aboard, was just 0.15sec outside of Fields Of Omagh?s race record.

Winner of the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes last start, Typhoon Tracy became only the third mare in the last 47 years to take out the Futurity Stakes and has now collected wins in nine of her 12 career starts for $1, 730,200 in prizemoney.

Connections of Typhoon Tracy decided on Sunday against an international campaign for her.

Abandoning plans to run her in the $1 million Champions Mile in Hong Kong, where a $1 million bonus was on offer for her, Typhoon Tracy will now focus on the lucrative Sydney Autumn Carnival races.

There are a plethora of Group 1 options for Australia?s most exciting mare including the $600, 000 Coolmore Classic (1500m) on March 20 at Rosehill.

Typhoon Tracy took out the Coolmore Classic last year but may skip it this season and move straight onto the $400, 000 Queen of the Turf Stakes or $400, 000 George Ryder Stakes on April 3, with her long-time goal being the $1.5million Doncaster Mile on April 17 at the Royal Randwick.

Caulfield?s Saturday meeting also featured the Group 2 Autumn Classic where the David Hayes-trained Extra Zero returned to winning form, storming into Australian Cup contention.

The other feature race over the weekend in Melbourne was conducted on Friday night at Moonee Valley, the $200, 000 Group 2 Fillies Classic, where the Michael Kent-trained My Emotion claimed victory.
