2010 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic Preview

This Friday, February 26, the scenic Moonee Valley Racecourse in Melbourne will host another terrific night of racing headlined by the $200, 000 Group 2 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic (1600m).

Nine fantastic three-year-old fillies are engaged for the middle distance gallop including Anthony Cummings? in-form female Tallow. Tallow is coming off a last start victory in the Group 3 The Vanity (1400m) at Flemington but has drawn wide on Friday night with barrier eight.

Also drawn wide with barrier six is the talented Teo Rossa. Trained by Colin and Cindy Alderson, Tio Rossa is seeking her third successive win following her first in the Strutt Stakes (2100m) at Hobart. The daughter of Testa Rossa is proving herself a very versatile filly, having won over 1200m – 2100m.

The Peter Moody-trained Speedy Natalie has secured the prized barrier one for Friday night. The improving Al Maher filly has won two of her five career starts but has been outclassed in the Group races to date, including an eighth place in The Vanity. Her recent 1500m win at this track and the ideal barrier draw may be enough for her to step up here so she mustn?t be discounted.

Other promising fillies starting in the Classic on Friday night include the consistent Mick Price-trained Aloha starting on the far outside in barrier nine with Damien Oliver aboard and David Hayes? Azwa drawn well in barrier two.

The Group 2 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic will run as race six on the night?s exciting eight event programme and is due to jump at 9:15pm.
