Burswood Horse of the Month November

Written by: Perth Racing – Media Release

The winners of the Burswood Entertainment Complex Horse of the Month for November have been announced.

The biggest race held on the Perth Racing calendar is the $1 million Carlton Draught Railway Stakes (1600m), and ‘Mudgee Bullet’ Snipers Bullet was able to go one better than last years second in the race, by winning the 2009 renewal in comprehensive fashion.

This made the decision for the leading older horse for the month of November an easy one; Snipers Bullet was unanimously voted star older galloper for November by the judging panel.

Congratulations to owner Roger and Nerida Atkinson, as well as trainer Tracey Bartley who made the long journey from country NSW to compete for our Festival of Perth Racing riches.

Astute horseman Lindsey Smith and leviathan local owner/breeder Ron Sayers combined to take out the $250,000 Group 2 Sky Channel WA Guineas (1600m) with classy filly Clueless Angel, pulling out all stops to beat a top quality line-up of young local talent.

Clueless Angel is sure to be back, bigger and better than ever in 2010 with her eyes firmly placed on the Champion Fillies crown at Ascot in the new year, and making her grip on the three-year-old of the year award a lot tighter.

Exciting juvenile Motion Pictures was dominant in keeping his unbeaten record in tact during November, winning his only start in the month by 5.5 lengths, the most impressive two-year-old success of the season thus far.

It gave exciting young sire Oratorio and the team at Mungrup Stud where he stands bragging rights, with two of his progeny Clueless Angel and Motion Pictures securing two awards in the month of November.

Credit must go to trainer Dave Casey for having the youngster in such fantastic shape early in the season, and congratulations to owner Don Hammarquist, who appears to have exciting times ahead with Motion Pictures, a live Karrakatta Plate chance in 2010.
