Hong Kong Vase Final Field & Barrier Draw

This Sunday the highly anticipated Hong Kong International Raceday is taking place at Sha Tin racecourse, the meeting boasting four quality Group 1 events including the Hong Kong Vase.

A line-up of top class horses from all across the globe will gather on Sunday to fight it out over the testing 2400m international staying event that has stakes set at HK$14million (approx. AUS $1.9million).

Last year?s third placegetter is back to try again, Jaguar Mail currently sitting at around $17 for a win, which would be the five-year-olds? first Group 1 victory. Jaguar Mail has the inside drawn barrier one and so will have the advantage of the inside running on Sunday.

Leading the betting markets are Youmzain at $4 followed closely by reigning Horse of the Year in Hong Kong Viva Pataca at $4.60. Trained by John Moore Viva Pataca has drawn wide with barrier 13.

The Mick Channon-trained Youmzain from Great Britain is rated equal-sixth highest horse in the world, has run second in the prestigious Prix de L?Arc de Triomphe for the last three consecutive years ?and is one of only four Group 1 winners in the Vase final field this year. The ever consistent six-year-old is in great form, having placed fifth or better in his last 17 race starts, all at Group 1 level over 2400m and will jump from barrier seven.

Spanish Moon fills the next line at $7.50 and is another elite galloper with a Group 1 win from Great Britain and is trained by Sir Michael Stoute. Spanish Moon will start from barrier 5.

The best way to place your bets on the Hong Kong Vase is at one of Australia?s chief online bookmakers such as Sportsbet.com.au who are currently offering generous odds and exciting betting options on all of Sunday?s major Hong Kong races. This very consistent runner will be the one to beat on Sunday having run second in the prestigious Arc the last three consecutive years and has placed fifth or better in his last 17 race starts.
