The promising four-year-old runner from Perth, Kasabian, has been scratched from this Saturday?s $1million Carlton Draught Railway Stakes (1600m) at Ascot after suffering swelling in his off fore leg.
The Darren McAuliffe-trained gelding was considered a strong local hope for the prestigious ?Ascot Mile? after winning his past six races in succession, including an impressive victory last start in the Group 3 Asian Beau Stakes on October 31.
Prior to the discovery of the swollen leg today, Kasabian had been in excellent form, pulling out an impressive nine length win in a Lark Hill Trial On November 9.
The withdrawal has allowed first emergency, the Lindsey Smith-trained Lambton Castle, to gain a start in the Group 1 feature from the outside barrier 16.
