Heart Of Dreams Closing In On Cox Plate Favourite

Whobegotyou’s favouritism for this weekend’s Tatts Cox Plate is diminishing with Heart Of Dreams closing the gap between the two rivals.

Originally priced at $2.40 (TAB) for Saturday’s $3 million race, Whobegotyou has slipped down to $3 while Heart Of Dreams’ price has gone from $9 to $5.50.

This upset to Whobegotyou’s spring campaign is an indication that the horse’s true potential on the field is being questioned by many bookmakers.

Ratings expert Gary Crispe has already been quoted as stating that Whobegotyou is no champion, and believes that the Cox Plate will just be another defining race in the gelding’s career.

However leading trainer Gai Waterhouse is behind the horse despite having two entrants of her own in Saturday’s race.

Although Rock Kingdom and Manhattan Rain cannot be faulted, Waterhouse is positive that if Whobegotyou can perform tomorrow as he is during training, he will undoubtedly be the horse to beat.

With trainer Mark Kavanagh looking for his second Cox Plate win, there is a lot riding on the Yalumba Stakes winner.

But it is unlikely that Heart Of Dreams will go down without a fight as the pair are now two-all after four meetings against together.

Tomorrow’s 2040m Cox Plate will have six NSW-based runners competing against five Victorians, one Western Australian and two New Zealanders for the prized Plate.

Moonee Valley officials are predicting perfect weather and a racing surface to match for tomorrow.
